Abbey Road

Not only did Miss Butters, Tilly and Beth participate in a recording session at the iconic Abbey Road Studies, but whilst performing three RSL Awards Level 3 arrangements, the choir were also assessed in the studio by an external Rockschool examiner for their Rockschool Group Performance Certificate!

We are excited to announce that they have each been awarded the following qualification:
RSL Entry Level 3 Award in Group Performance (Music)
Passed with Distinction

What an outstanding achievement for them all!

Here is the summary of their performance from their Rockschool assessor:
Thank you for sitting a Rockschool Group Performance Certificate. Overall, the ensemble evidenced outcomes at Level 3 to a very high standard – achieving a Distinction. Notably, the arrangement of pieces presented (including vocal harmonies and instrument parts) was outstanding. Good luck for Teachers Rock future performances.

This inspirational choir will be performing at Exeter Cathedral on Thursday 30th November and Friday 1st December. Tickets are available here: https://www.exeter-cathedral.org.uk/…/teachers-rock…/

Back Chat Brass Performance

The children were treated to a very special live music performance from Back Chat Brass. The children absolutely loved the performance and enjoyed learning more about the instruments being played. They also enjoyed joining in with some singing and music games.

A massive thank you to Sound Waves South West for bringing them along.

Chorister Outreach Project

A fantastic afternoon was had at Exeter Cathedral for this term’s Chorister Outreach concert featuring Holsworthy are schools, alongside choristers from Exeter Cathedral School, Devon County Junior Choir and a debut performance from the Devon Youth Choir.

Well done to everyone involved!

Miss Butters commented, ‘It was an absolute pleasure to take the children to Exeter Cathedral They all sung with such energy and emotion. They should be so very proud of themselves, especially as the first choir in the project’s history to sing with the cathedral’s organ. What an incredible achievement!’

SAMBA BAND WORKSHOP

Each class enjoyed a workshop from Hartland Samba Band to further enrich their music curriculum. The children learnt to use a range of instruments, learnt different rhythms and produced a final piece of music within their classrooms.

HolsWorthy town band performance

Children from Nursery to Year 6, attended ‘Proms in the Playground’ with Holsworthy Town Band. It was a fabulous afternoon, with children thoroughly enjoying listening and interacting with the performance. Many children expressed an interest in learning to play an instrument or to join the town band in a future performance as a result of this visit.

Huge thanks to Holsworthy Town Band for a wonderful afternoon!
