School Update 09/04/2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the end of what has been a very different Easter Holidays we wanted to give you some information about the next term. Below you will find information about: School opening for children of critical workers; the school’s provision for home learning and information about Free School Meals. In the next two weeks, we will also be calling every family to have a chat, see how you are and answer any questions you may have.

School opening for children of critical workers

As communicated previously, on Tuesday the 14th April, the school will be open to children of critical workers at the normal opening times. Please only attend the school site if you have filled in the key worker form and you have had your place confirmed by Mr Pope or the office staff prior to the Easter break. The school is now expecting all adults to strictly adhere to social distancing guidelines and we ask parents to do the same with all staff members and each other when collecting and dropping off.

If you believe you are a key worker and you have not been offered a place, the school office will be open to telephone and e-mail correspondence. The office staff, Mr Salvadori and Mr Pope will be available to return phone calls and deal with any requests on Tuesday but please do not attend the school site without a confirmed place so as to protect everyone’s well-being.

Home Learning

We have now set up an online provision for distance learning. Teachers in EYFS, KS1 and LKS2 and UKS2 have completed weekly plans and activities for you to access. We will be sending you the link and making the link available via the website early on Tuesday morning. More information on this will be included in Tuesday’s parent mail. We are aware of the amount of screen based learning available so our plans have tried to limit this. There are however some excellent resources, particularly for maths that we are going to recommend you use as we are also aware of the difficulty for parents to deliver this learning and the need for children to work independently where possible.

Free School Meals

We have now been informed by our caterers – Chartwells – that they will be providing free school meal packs. These will be available for collection on Wednesday morning. We will let you know the pick up times available on Tuesday.

If you are experiencing any difficulty with accessing food or other essential supplies please let us know. There is also an aid group working closely with Mother Elizabeth that are offering and delivering food and essential help. Their contact details and number to text are available here: https://www.holsworthybenefice.org.uk/

As always, we hope you and your families are safe and well and we look forward to seeing all of you as soon as we can.
